Lars has great dedication for cooking food. Growing up in a family that loves to cook and bake, the seed was planted at a young age. His experiences in the culinary arts range from deli manager, baker, US Navy galley watch captain, fish production, sous chef and chef de cuisine. For ten years he enjoyed working at Wild Rice Restaurant (Bayfield, WI) and as the Chef de Cuisine for five of those years. He recently worked as Food Lab Technician at Northland College’s Food Systems Center and also Chef at Wild Rice Retreat. Each position has added to his passion for cooking. He has continuously gained knowledge from working directly in the industry.  Lars earned education and artistic development from St. Paul Technical College-Culinary Arts Program and the Culinary Institute of America-California. He is a Certified Food Manager and has recently received his Master Gardener certificate from University of Wisconsin-Extension. Working with locally sourced ingredients is important to him and he is known for his progressive, artistic style.

Lars lives in Bayfield, Wisconsin with his wife and son. The Chequamegon Bay Area has become their home and community; where they find adventure, inspiration and beauty everyday.
